For this piece I made a portrait of Zhavia. She is a singer that made her debut on the singing show the four. she was an instant hit and had a very unique sound mixing reggae, R&B and some pop to create her style; and obviously I loved it so I decided to make a piece of her. I used watercolor paint, prismacolor pencils and fine liners to create this piece. Overall I think this piece turned out very good and there isn't much of anything id change.

For this visual journal I took inspiration from the Netflix original show End of the F***ing world. I drew portraits of the two main characters Alyssa and James in their later looks in the show. Then I painted the background because the aesthetic I get from this show is very sea blue and I wanted to represent that. lastly I added a quote from the show that represented these characters. For the portraits I used Prismacolor pencils. For the background I used watercolor and used a flooded water technique to create that look. For the quote I just used a black ink brush pen. If I was to do anything different I would work a little harder on James face since it doesn't look that good in my opinion.
For this piece I was inspired by the Robert Frost poem Fire and Ice. The poem is one of my personal favorites and I wanted to adapt it into a piece. The poem is about how the world will end and I wanted to depict that literally and I also wanted to add a bit of my own interpretation to the poem. personally if I had to choose between fire and ice I think the world will end in fire at the hands of humans. that is the reason why I decided that the world would be dying in fire in human hands.
Fire and Ice By:Robert Frost Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. in this piece i played around with this idea of swimming in the stars. i used black marker fine liners and white gel pen. i really do like the outcome of this piece and i wouldn't do anything different.
I am honestly very proud of this piece. I used one of my favorite Edgar Allen Poe poems. The Raven if that wasn't obvious. I remember when I had my first concepts for this piece I wanted it to be on a white background with faux feathers that go down around it. I ended up messing up the white background and ended up cutting my raven out and putting it on a new page so it still has an interesting feel to it and to me the outline of the raven is strangely satisfying. for this piece I used back matte paint, black sharpie markers and a white gel pen. The raven was a solid black color of black from a sharpie before I added texture to it with the white gel pen. The biggest struggle I had with this one was really learning to trust my abilities. When I saw that block of black sharpie I was worried it wouldn't turn out the way I wanted it to and when I made mistakes I decided to keep going and finish the piece and make it out to be a happy accident. Lastly if I was to change something about this piece i would try to play with the idea of branches and stuff.
In this piece i was trying to show the idea of its not all what it seems. i got this idea from an image of a small ship and a large octopus creature in the water making the boat look so small. in my piece i wanted the octopus to be grabbing that ship with the very end of his tentacles to show that from the surface they look smaller but the octopus itself is huge and no one knows how big it is and truly what i lurks in the dark places that we can not see. for this piece I used acrylic paints, Prismacolor pencils and black fine liners. If I was to change something i would try a little more smooth blending with the acrylics but that is about it.
For my first visual journal this school year I chose to do this piece by the LGBTQ+ community. I portrayed the idea of love is love through two skeletons kissing. the idea behind it is that you don't know who they are. They could be any race or sexuality and know one would know. the only thing we know about them is that they are human and they love each other and that is all that matters. When it comes to the construction of this piece I used fine liner pens and these neat water color splatter things. You put down this colored powder and then you use a mister or spray bottle to activate them and they make the effect you see on the paper. Overall I am very proud of the final piece the only thing i would have done different was find a tape that was less harsh on my paper since when I peeled it up the paper it tore some of the skeleton.
This piece was inspired on the speech Tyler Joseph said at the largest concert he ever preformed at. One of the last things that was said was "We did it" so i put it in the piece. this piece was originally a picture that someone had painted and I just recreated it with acrylic paint with very minimal colors(blue and pink). if i was to do something different i would probably add a bit more detail but over all i am very proud of this piece.
Okay I am clearly obsessed. i think the rest of this sketchbook will just be filled with emo band art. but I happen to like most of it and this piece is my absolute favorite in the bunch. This is a portrait(I think) of Frank Iero one of my favorite musicians ever. I am so proud of it. It took some time but i think it turned out amazing. It was done with water color, some sharpie and fine liner pens. I think that i've mastered watercolors with this piece. I was able blend almost perfectly on the shirt. Honestly I wouldn't change much about this piece just under his eyes and his right shoulder where there's not much detail. i remember when i started drawing it out i was so scared that it was going to turnout horrible but i was able to make it look good. and finally inspiration for this piece was me just loving frank iero more than myself and having this exact picture as my lock screen on my phone.
